Since the transition of COVID-19, the amount of consumption of foreign
tourists visiting Jeju Island has increased rapidly every month.
Hana Card recently announced the results of "an analysis of
consumption and movement patterns of foreign tourists visiting Jeju Island"
as the demand for foreign tourists to travel to domestic tourist destinations has increased.
The amount of credit card use by foreign tourists visiting
Jeju Island in August was 43 billion won, up about 65% from 26 billion
won in August 2019, before the COVID-19 epidemic. The amount of
card usage by country was in the order of Singapore, the United States,
China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan, and from January to August 2023,
rental cars were KRW 8 billion and gas stations were KRW 1.8 billion,
up 320% and 360%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019.
As a result of the analysis of movement patterns according to consumption of
foreign tourists in Jeju Island, there were differences in

preferred regions depending on nationality, with consumption occurring
mainly in coastal areas near airports in China, and in western Seogwipo and
Jungmun tourist complexes in Singapore.
According to Hana Card's analysis results, foreign tourists who
visited Jeju Island from January to August this year used the card to 220 billion won, up
158% from the same period last year. The amount of use in April
this year was 30 billion won, exceeding the maximum monthly
amount of 26 billion won in 2019, before the COVID-19 epidemic,
and in August this year, it steadily increased to 43 billion won,
renewing its monthly high.
From January to August this year, foreign tourists used 62
billion won in Singapore, 39 billion won in the United States,
22 billion won in China, 21 billion won in Taiwan, 15 billion won in Hong Kong,
and 10 billion won in Japan. In the case of Singapore, it is estimated that some foreigners of other

domestic tourism demand has declined due to the COVID-19 epidemic and the
THAAD crisis, but it has been on the rise again since March this year, and in
